Rune Workshop for August: Perthro and Gar

Join teacher and writer Anastasia Haysler for a monthly rune workshop from the comfort of your home! Each month, we’ll look at a pair of runes in detail—their names, descriptions in the various Rune Poems, associations and interpretations both historical and modern, and ways of working with their energies to make your readings rich, deep, and meaningful.

Perthro is the rune of the dice cup, of taking a chance, not knowing what the outcome may be, while having specific hopes and desired results in mind. Gar is the rune of the unknown and unknowable. We’ll explore how their energies mesh (or not), and how they influence a reading, individually or as a pair.
This online workshop is held at 7:00 PM Pacific Time, and runs for 90 minutes. We use a Google Hangout for real-time video and audio during the workshop. The link for the workshop will be sent the Monday prior to the event.
Each workshop is a stand-alone event, so you don’t have to attend all of them. It’s more fun if you do, of course, but it’s not required!
You can register on our web store at http://bit.ly/2up82KG

Charming the Tarot: Using Charms with the Tarot to Deepen Divination with Karen Krebser

Join Karen Krebser of The Muse’s Darling on November 22, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for an exploration of working with charms and cards!

Sometimes when we deal out the cards, it takes us a little time to figure out what they’re trying to say. With so many potential meanings available to us for each card, especially if we read reversals, it can be challenging to know which meaning is intended at which particular draw. This class will teach you to use charms with your cards to help narrow things down a bit, giving direction and some clarity and maybe even a new way of seeing the cards.

Charms are an increasingly popular form of divination in which symbolic items, or even everyday hum-drum items, are infused with meaning and cast across the cards. Using charms in this way can help provide clarity and add an extra layer of depth to your readings, whether you’re reading for yourself or for others. If you have charms, please bring them with you to the class. But never fear if you don’t. Little everyday items will be provided that you can use as charms to get you started.
The workshop will be held at our studio in Alameda, California and as an online event, so you can participate from wherever you are! When you register for the workshop on the Tarot Media Company store, please indicate whether you will be attending in person or remotely. Thanks!

What other connections do these cards have? How can we work with the energy of the Threes to deepen our readings?

Wide Wonderful World of Tarot with Thalassa – Double Play -November 13, 2013 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

There are numerous examples of these “Mirrors” through these decks. We will examine as many as we can to see what the similarities and differences tell us about the underpinnings of the cards.

Tarot Spreads and Layouts: What is the purpose of a spread? Why do we use them? A useful spread gives shape, flow, and direction to the reading. While some people are happy to randomly scatter cards on the table and see what happens, it is easier for the client to follow some kind of structured layout. We’ll look at different types of layouts, read with several of them, talk about different ways to create spreads, and make one of our own!
Bring your cards, notebook and pen, and your curiosity!

The workshop features discussions, practical exercises, and direct, personal exploration of the cards.

Additionally, Tarot Media Company donates a prize each month – a deck, a book, or some other wonderful item from our shop!
